Yesterday we had our last meeting with our social worker. We had a total of 3 meetings over the last month. Now, as soon as the report is written up we will be officially waiting for placement. This is both exciting and scarey. I am really hoping it doesn’t take too long for placement, but you just never know with this process. It is a process full of unknowns and undetermined amounts of time. I have alot to do this week financially to prepare for placement. We are applying for loans and grants to try to cover the placement fee which will be somewhere between $11,000 and $16,000. We have to have that ready for placement which could happen at any time. We will be doing a fundraiser at our church and also selling raffle tickets for friends and family who do not attend our church. I am really hopeful we will get some of these grants I am applying for also. It’s ALOT of paperwork!

I am also preparing myself for the ups and downs of this process emotionally. It is emotionally draining to wait for placement not knowing when it might come. There might be failed placements ahead of us when we are matched with a birthmother who then changes her mind, it is fairly common to have that happen at least once. I know God will give us the grace to handle that, if it comes to pass. Overall we are excited to see what God is going to do. We feel confident that He has lead us on this journey and He will bring the right child to us and supply all our needs.

Sunday, I was praying about this financial problem we have and God brought a bible story to mind. It is the story of Jericho. Joshua was leading the children of Isreal to the Promised Land. They had just crossed the Jordan River and saw in front of them the city of Jericho. It seemed to them like they would never get through it and to the Promised Land. It seemed unsermountable. God told them he would give them the victory if they would obey his instructions. He told them to march around the city every day for 6 days and then on the 7th day they would march 7 times and shout and the walls would come down. They were obedient and they got the victory. I am sure they thought, at the time, while marching around this city like this was never going to work and they would never reach the Promised Land. But they were obedient to God and the walls fell and they did reach thier destination. This financial situation seems insurmountable to me right now, but I am being obedient and pressing on and I know God is going to get us to our destination. God has led us this far, and He will not forsake us now.

Hi, I wanted to keep a record for everyone of our adoption journey. We started our adoption process in August of 2009. We began by filling out ALOT of paperwork and applications. Then in October we attended our first meeting with the adoption agency. And currently, in November are working on our homestudy. The homestudy is a three meeting process that consists of interviews with a social worker and also a home visit by that social worker. We are excited to have come this far in the process and can now see the “light at the end of the tunnell” through this process. Soon we will officially be “waiting” for a match of a child God has waiting for us. We appreciate your prayers and support during this process. I will try to keep this journal updated as we continue throught this process.
